In Iowa, we value fairness, equality, and being a good neighbor. In 2009, the Iowa Supreme Court upheld these values by unanimously approving marriage equality in our state. It was one of the most important legal decisions in our state’s history and an extraordinary milestone in the march of civil rights in our country. I am proud that Iowa led the way in providing full and equal protection under the law for all our residents.
As governor, I will fight any effort to roll back these rights and any attack that would undermine our shared values of inclusiveness and fairness.
