Workers Compensation

The Branstad-Reynolds administration and Republicans in the legislature are pursuing a reckless agenda that hurts working families and Iowa taxpayers. When they made changes to the state’s workers compensation laws, they made it more difficult for a mother or father injured on the job to put food on the table, cover medical costs, or send their kids to school.

But they also harmed Iowa taxpayers in the process. Under their bill, public dollars through Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security will need to be used far more frequently to cover the costs of injured workers. That is a tax increase on all Iowans and Iowa families. That’s not fair and not good for our economy.

As governor, I will work to restore the workers compensation system that has worked for decades.
